I joined in 2021 but had been an occasional lurker since 2018, I didn’t know much about this site except that it had naked men I was looking for and couldn’t find anywhere else.

When I joined I realized just how much stuff there is here and I am interested what was the sites history and what was it’s intended purpose.

It’s very well known for having gay content but what I didn’t know is that there is a large audience here for straight content and I want to know what was first, was this originally a gay or straight site? Was LPSG actually a real support group? I had thought the name was meant as like joking quip of it being a forum of gay men looking for photos of of men with large penises but the sites past intentions and info about it aren’t very talked about at all.

And if it did start as a gay space why was straight content accepted and given space here? Or if it was a straight site why did it allow lgbt content to permeate its space so much so that it’s what the site is known for? Or if the name wasn’t facetious and this was literally a site made as an actual support group why was the change to sexual content allowed and how & when did it start?

If anyone sees this and knows please share I’d love to know more I find this so interesting and wish there was more discussion around it.

It was less relentlessly sexual and there were a lot of discussions about politics and religion that I think are no longer welcome. But that's ok. Things change, and the current iteration of the site is obviously very popular.

Thank you for responding! Was this intended as a gay space? What was the reason this space was made all these years ago if you happened to know?

I'm so glad you asked whether it was actually a legit support group at first, or if the name was just meant to be ironic. I've always wondered the exact same thing!

This is my understanding of how lpsg came to be and what's behind the name.

About 25 years ago, a couple of college students created a website as a bit of a prank. They named it the Large Penis Support Group. They wrote about scenarios where a person with a large penis had accidents and mishaps in his every day life, like knocking things over by quickly turning around, or even tripping over your own penis.

While this was just a prank site, the name attracted a lot of traffic from men with questions, concerns and experiences of actually having a larger than average penis.

Uncertain of the time line here, but not too long after this, a guy called Mark decided to buy the website and it was during this period of time when lpsg got a lot of the features we still enjoy today.
Some years ahead, Rob E aquired the website from Mark and we continued to grow and more features were added, such as photos and videos, chat and galleries.

Then, 6 years ago, our current owner took over the reigns, Mr LPSG. He's poured a lot of time, effort and resources into improving the website and has also made it far more transparent.

In short, what started as a prank, gained popularity and was very much a support group where the topic was the larger than average penis.
Given this topic, it then grew in popularity among gay and bi males, which is why we today have such a wide spread of members from all walks of life, something which makes us quite unique.

Having a website where the main topic is the penis and penis size, allow us to ask questions, share experiences, thoughts and discuss something we very rarely feel comfortable bringing up in person, and yet often think about and can be self conscious of.
It's also a very male topic and concern, which is why we have far more males than females on the website.

Oh wow so the support group was real this is really eye opening thank you for responding. It’s cleared up a lot of questions I’ve had for some time now.

Yes it was. Despite being started as a prank, it became a actual support group for men with large penisis. The name came from the prank website though.

Can the info you’ve shared here be put into an official ‘about’ section so others curious like me can get a quick read about the site and it’s history?

I don't know the exact origin but I started with this website back in 2011 as my wife and I never fit very well and sex is painful. I was trying to figure out how other guys approached an unwilling wife to try to change and make it work.... well my bi side curiosity was peaked and then all the pictures and then I was hooked..... started adding pictures and making friends and it's been great ever since

i only knew about the prank part..anyway @Voltronhater12 thank you so much for this interesting question!
You’re welcome and I’m just glad people are also interested in this like I was and have even given responses! This site being around as long as it has is a like time capsule for me and I love getting to know more about it

Thank you for the wonderful insight and taking the time and effort to reply.
I think the phrase "many a true word spoken in jest" could be the tagline for the group then.

I’ve been on lpsg since I want to say early to mid 2000’s. Hard to remember the exact year because I was way more into justusboys back then. My original account still exists from back then but the email addy/password/exact username is long gone from my memory but I know I was a member in college and that was ‘01-‘05 so one of those years I joined I believe. I’m going to guess ‘05 yet once again that’s a long gone memory lol
