It just depends on what your specific algorithm is. My explore page is filled with hot guys and a good portion of them are gay. If you consistently like/follow/comment on hot guys posts, that is what will be recommended to you.

I don't know how they met, but surely it can't be seen as a challenging proposition that two attractive, out-gay athletes could find each other.

You guys think it'd be easier to be an out gay player if lockerrooms had more privacy? Showering with a gay guy is really the only thing that'd make the team uncomfortable but if people shower to themselves besides a few people possibly being homophobic I don't see the reason you couldn't come out as gay nowadays so stalls perhaps? I mean I'm sure they have the money to do it so why not.
I think that's an optimistic viewpoint. I don't know if it's that simple as a privacy issue. Americans are more baseline conservative than the media portrays. I think it's idealistic to think everyone is on the same page, as baseline more accepting. I hope that's the case, or we wouldn't have Carl Nassibs in the world. But the camps that would be uncomfortable with gay men around them in general are prone to conspiracy, paranoia, and reject new and challenging points of view. I hope Carl didn't have to experience anything like that, or it just exposed snakes who should never have been trusted in the first place
