Dylan o'brien

The nice thing is he gets mentioned on random podcasts every now and again. Everyone who's met him likes him and everyone seems to rate his abilities and performances. Still baffled as to why he's not a bigger star unless it's his choice.

I always tend to think when these talented charismatic heartthrobs involved in 0 scandals, with perfect reputations and adored by their colleagues and the audiences disappear AT THEIR PEAK is because they must have not complied with some bullshit and got properly discarded by Hollywood. Same happened with Brendan Fraser and it took 20 years for us to know why.

When he suffered that serious injury in The Maze Runner series, he wanted to quit acting. The studio threatened to sue for millions of dollars (money he didn't have), but they had his then-girlfriend convince him to at least finish the project. I don't know if studios are hesitant to work with him because of this, or his being more selective with his roles

Depends what you def

I've never seen or read this. I know he said he was in a dark place but who wouldn't. Also I heard it was the other way round and Dylan got compensation from the accident but it was all hush hush on the amount. Not that they were going to sue him. I don't think "we nearly killed you so you better finish the movie" would have been a good look for them haha

I personally believe that he's one of these actors that does certain projects because he wants to like Ponyboi for example. He's got a couple of million in the bank and is happy with that. Doesn't do any social media, rarely does interviews, magazine shoots etc keeps him self to himself. After Saturday Night and Caddo Lake he still got another 2 movies coming out. One in which he's supporting (Anniversary) and the other the main character (Twinless).

Saying all that he might just have a shit agent hahaha but who cares so let's enjoy his sexyness.

That is total bullshit. Sorry but, wtf is your logic typing all that out? Asinine. All of it. Does Insurance not exist on your planet? 🤕

he was injured during a stunt. that type of shit opens an investigation. remember when baldwin shot a woman on set because the props person gave him a loaded gun? that whole thing was a mess and a half. same type of shit happened with dylan, once his accident happened, an investigation had to occur to figure out what happened and who was at fault, and since it was a stunt scene, the studio would always be at fault.
if they even dared to threaten him with anything, his union would be on their ass and squeeze the studio for every penny

Well, I was misinformed about the situation. I did double and I'll I find what he did during the injury contemplate quitting. The person who originally informed me was wrong (I didn't see a reason for the person the to lie, so never looked it up)

You've gotta remember that unlike a lot of stars these days, Dylan came in as a genuine outsider to "the industry." He wasn't raised for showbiz, he was just a random nobody who got discovered and thrived at it. So I'd say there's a decent chance he's just not into fame. He can afford to be selective with his projects because he spends money like someone who grew up without a lot of it, ie, rarely. He is kind of living the dream at the moment; he does what he wants, everybody loves him, and then he disappears from the public eye until he decides he wants to do something else. He is well liked and talented, so plenty of people are happy to hold the door for him whenever he feels like walking back in.

Ehh, it's still a career. I'm sure if he could magically snap his fingers and be at the Brad Pitt level of desirability in the industry, He Would.. His career as it is now is a result of his ability and the wild world of it all.

his mother was a production aide/assistant for a few years and his father is a director and producer. not exactly outside the industry

the studio was especially at fault because the stunt he got injured from was not what was initially planned and rehearsed for the sequence they were shooting, i remember the director (i think?) or someone else working on the movie talking about it

I'm reading some of theses posts and I'm like not wanting fame? What? If he just wanted to act and stay out of the spotlight he would be on the Broadway circuit. At a snap of a finger. He would definitely want a Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise career level of desirability or even a Chris Evans or Henry Cavill career. An actor's career goal is to eventually become an A-list talent and with that comes fame and fortune, including sometimes political influence.

Why Dylan's current predicament? Hollywood is a very competitive place, with so many good looking and talented folks. It can be very hard to catch a break. It's all luck and chance. But Dylan has been given great opportunities, that many minority actors would kill for, including leading The Maze Runner series, American Assassin, and Love and Monsters to name a few. All targeted to a mainstream audience.

After watching his late night with Seth Meyers segment, I understand why he shies away from the spotlight. He's just too anxious. I think he's perfectly content with where he's at.

It's not like he's not getting work, he has four projects coming up.

A lot of actors are anxious or shy away from the spotlight that's nothing new. My point was that the idea that he isn't seeking fame is ludacris, of course he wants fame. He wants to be A-list. It's showbiz, but the price paid is not having a lot of privacy and dealing with crazy fans. If that's not for you, then probably should stick with low key projects that don't get you on a Seth Myers show or a big red carpet debut. But I got no indication that is even Dylan's viewpoint.

But to your point. He is getting work and so we shall see how that all turns out for him.

Jesus, sorry I brought it up, it's not that serious. I think it's stupid to assume that every single person acting in Hollywood is doing it for the same reasons and with the same end goal, but the fact is none of us know this dude and we likely never will, so this is all just masturbatory speculation, and that's not the kind of maturation I come here for.
