Sporting Clube da Covilhã or better known as Sporting Covilhã is portuguese football club from Covilhã founded in 1923 making them one of the oldest and historic clubs in portuguese football and the clubs nickname is Leões da Serra meaning Lions of the Mountain Range. They currently play in the Liga de Honra one league away from the Portuguese First Division. In the previous season of 2007/08 they finished 1st in the Portuguese Second Division Serie C out scoring teams expectations and also in remarkable and unbelieve fashion finishing first in the playoffs and beating historic portuguese club Chaves. There current home ground is Complexo Desportivo da Covilhã in Covilhã which holds a capacity of 6,000 seats. There current chairman is portuguese owner José Oliveira Mendes and current maager is portuguese manager Helio Sousa who has played for Vitória Setúbal throughout his career. Thee titles that they have won are the Portuguese League of Honour in 1948 and Portuguese Second Division in 1999 and most recently 2005 and 2008. There most notable former player is former portuguese international footballer Rui Barros.
